Tattoo Removal And Reduction

Today, tattoos have become more popular than ever with the advent of popular reality shows like Miami Ink and others. Many people that would have never before considered a tattoo are flocking in droves to get them done. Some do not put a lot of thought or think in the long term before having a tattoo done.

They put names of girlfriends, boyfriends, their mom, gang affiliation, crimes, etc. on their body and then after they break up with their girlfriend or similar a few weeks or months later they regret the tattoo. Worse, some even get tattooed on areas like the face and hands that can make a regular career or advancement in a professional setting impossible. This is where tattoo removal and tattoo reduction come in.

Excision

Excision is using a scalpel or similar to remove the affected area and then suturing and pulling together the skin to minimize scarring. If the tattoo is large or covers a big area than skin grafts may be necessary as the skin can only be pulled so taught before it will look worse, not heal right and possibly even pull apart.

Skin grafts are usually taken from areas inside the thighs and underarms where scarring will be minimal and largely unseen. Excision is surgery and does usually require a sedative or even anesthesia in cases with large tattoos. Due to the advent of lasers and TCA skin peels for tattoo removal, excision is rarely used anymore.

TCA skin peel

Chemical peels have been around in various forms for over half a century. They were first used for treating tough calluses and corns on the feet. About 20 years ago doctors started experimenting on different areas of the skin like the face with varying strengths and mixtures. It was found that a 25 to 50 % TCA skin peel was the most effective and easiest to apply. It was also found that this peel could affect deeper skin problems like acne scarring, wrinkles and then unwanted tattoos.

The TCA skin peel causes a controlled burn which results in several layers being peeled off and fresh, new skin being revealed. Many doctors now use the TCA skin peel as a very effective tattoo removal and reduction treatment. It can be either used alone or incorporated with the laser treatments described below which actually hastens healing and further reduces the chances of scarring. The TCA skin peel is so easy to use that it is now available for in home use for tattoo removal (something you will never see with laser treatment and excision).

TCA Tattoo Remover

Removing a tattoo is serious business and TCA is a serious tattoo removal product. Most people do not know the difficulty and determination required to rid themselves of deeply deposited tattoo pigment that can be made from plastic, vegetable coloring or mineral salts.

The fact that the ink settles in the skin to a depth approximately equal to the thickness of a nickel and becomes more deeply lodged as years pass makes the removal what it is, a very difficult undertaking. Deep enough to be difficult, yet shallow enough to make it appear close enough to the surface to be removed with relative ease and lack of discomfort. Unfortunately there is no way to remove a tattoo without a bit of determination and discomfort.

But con artists exist, as they always have, and they will say anything to make money.

Some tattoo removal products promise that simply by rubbing a cream or gel on the tattoo once or twice a day for several months you can easily fade or remove the ink as long as you pay them $75 to $100 per month for the duration of the treatment. Any such claims are, frankly, BS. If these companies could produce such results they would have medical studies backing up their claims, and believe me you would know about them, but there are no such medical studies because these products do not do anything but enrich the companies promoting these products. They fade skin pigment and nothing else – not tattoo pigment.

Removal creams will not remove the ink because they don’t and can’t penetrate deep enough AND skin pigment fade products, which is their primary ingredient, are totally ineffective on tattoo pigment. Something that can fade a freckle will have ZERO effect on plastic, vegetable coloring or metal salts…it ain’t gonna happen. Let common sense be your guide…if it sounds to good, to easy, then it probably isn’t true.

To remove a tattoo requires either a laser, ipl (intense pulsed light), dermabrasion, salabrasion, surgery, Rejuvi or similar tattoo injected material, or a TCA based product. The reason these are the only effective methods is because after the tattoo has been drawn on and injected into the skin the tattoo pigment eventually settles into the dermis or second layer of skin. After approximately 90 days the tattoo becomes encased in fibroblasts, a form of connective tissue that among other things is responsible for the production of collagen fibers which give the skin that smooth and youthful appearance. In other words the tattoo pigment actually combines with the dermis tissue and becomes as much a part of you as your skin itself.

Of the removal methods mentioned in the previous paragraph it is my opinion that TCA is the most effective of the affordable removal methods. If you can afford laser, ipl or Rejuvi you should take advantage of those methods. If not, TCA is the way to go for tattoo removal

Laser Tattoo Removal Surgery In India

The principle of selective thermolysis can be applied towards the removal of tattoos. The energy delivered by a number of different lasers is targeted towards the carbon particles or dyes that are found in skin tattoos, allowing selective destruction of the foreign pigment while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin.

Lasers may be used on professional, amateur, cosmetic, medicinal, and traumatic tattoos. The different colors present in the tattoos may respond differently to laser tattoo removal. Lasers offer a non-invasive and effective treatment for unwanted tattoos. ……….

How Do Lasers Remove Tattoos ?

The laser device fragments the ink with short pulses of intense, concentrated laser light. The method of delivery and the wavelengths used are designed to target only the tattooed pigments, without affecting the surrounding pigments and layers of skin. Different laser lights are used for different ink colors. Black ink is easiest to remove, because black absorbs the full spectrum of light, while green, blue, red, and other colors require more targeted laser pulses…………

How many treatments are necessary for tattoo removal ?

Tattoos require multiple treatment sessions, usually performed at 4-8 week intervals or longer. Tattoo lightening may continue for several months after the last treatment session. Amateur black tattoos typically respond better than professional tattoos…….

Results

In many cases it will. Often greater than 95% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished. However, it is important to know that there are many, many types of tattoo inks in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink was used, or how deeply it was applied, makes it impossible for the physician to predict the degree of removal on any given tattoo.
